Not at all. The mass AA grant can be turned down. There will be a button to say no to it. You can still go the normal route, with the AA bonus.

I have 6 toons, and my bard is probably my favorite. She just makes everything so much easier. Pulling, Mezzing, crack, haste, improved dps, she can do it all. I agree though, the best way to learn them is to start from the ground up. One of the best tips I can offer is learning the /melody command....
