Here's a pic I took of the final room and the 2 chests of loot we got for killing Mayong.

That looks like some sort of new age art. I was hoping for awesomeness from the end of Solteris...not this :(

No clue why the image is corrupted now, or if I have a backup anywhere sorry.

I should have a backup, depending on when this happened, but... The corruption is worrying. I'm at work, I'll take a closer look when I can.

Hrm. The corruption is at least a month old, present in my oldest normal backup. Good news: Not an immediate and imminent failure. Bad news: Data loss. Crap. I probably have some old archives laying around somewhere, but I had actually cleaned up stray copies of data not too long ago. Let's hope I wasn't too thorough.

Thanks Rendus.

Someday I should upload a ton of old guild event screenshots to Photobucket or something.

Until twenty minutes ago I'd have said they'd be fine on the forum's server.

The files that are corrupt are all larger than their original size. Weird stuff. It may be extra bits, rather than lack of or corrupt bits.

Found an archive stashed away from Feb, 2013 that has the same corruption. And I'm tapped out for archives I think. I'll assess what files are damaged at some point.

Blah.

Because I am extremely bored. And because there are people out there that are genuinely interested in the longevity of 1 and 0s.

Yep... I'm annoyed by this. There are a pretty large number of broken images now that I go digging. I'm going to stop digging for now and get lunch...

Well, at least they're files nobody's noticed for at least a year. Silver lining, right?

Pretty sure on November 25th, 2011 I transferred files for CN from one host to another, and the transfers for some attachments were done in ASCII mode (which would explain why some of these have a good block of data at the very start). Most if not all of the damaged files have that timestamp, while everything else has their correct (or later) timestamps.

Poopy.

Closer to what Jhereg was trying to post - So there's some hope for recovery here.

Thanks Rendus :)

And I meant a hundred or two hundred pics, not sure. I've always had them backed up on several hard drives so haven't lost them yet. Just thinking a cloud backup of some type would be good.

A couple hundred pictures is only a couple hundred megs to a gigabyte or so. It'd easily fit on a Dropbox account, or any of the other cloud storage services, and you wouldn't have to worry about them keeping only reduced quality versions of the images like a lot of the image hosts do. Dropbox and the like also keep multiple versions of the files as they're changed (if you change them anyway), so you can restore previous versions.

I have daily backups for the forum and eqdkp databases, weekly backup for the forum files, but none of that matters if you're backing up corrupt/damaged files :/ Be sure to spot-check any files and data you actually care about on occasion to make sure nothing's happened.
